“We try to rock the audience’s socks off by just playing the best we can, the songs we wrote and love, and try to let people experience the same passion we have.” Right on, 🎙 Revenge Of The Fallen! The Portuguese band is comprised of 🎙 Cláudio Santos (vocals), 🎙 Fábio Gil (guitar and backup vocals), 🎙 André Seia (guitar and backup vocals), 🎙 Martín Gaspar (bass), and 🎙 Carlos Araújo (drums). Like our many other Getting to Know Q&As, we get the inside scoop on the collective’s genesis, goals, musical influences, and of course, current, and future musical endeavors. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into 🎤 Getting to Know… Revenge Of The Fallen: Interview No. 317!

For those who may not be familiar with Revenge Of The Fallen, what would you say makes you distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

🎤 We play our hearts out, every time we set foot on stage. We try to deliver a great show.
It doesn’t necessarily make us distinct, because thankfully, a lot of our peers do the same, we all try to set a high standard for our shows, work hard and try to do our best, justifying the hard-earned money people spend to see us. We try to rock the audience’s socks off by just playing the best we can, the songs we wrote and love and try to let people experience the same passion we have.

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did Revenge Of The Fallen form and what were some of the goals or visions you had early on?

🎤 Well, our band was formed in late 2017. Some of us already had some other musical projects, so we couldn’t quite dedicate much time to this project, so we had a slow start. Still, we made enough songs to play a gig in our hometown, on an opening slot. We reckon that this gig was the spark we all needed to convince ourselves that this band had to be taken more seriously and we all had to spend more time, investing more of ourselves, more time, in order to make something great happen. We had an amazing positive vibe at the end of the show, with lots of people just blown away with what had just happened and that we were in a very good moment. We let that sink in and got hands to work immediately. If we didn’t have major expectations, that was turned on instantly.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

🎤 They changed a lot. As we said that first gig was very important to understand that we should take this a little bit more seriously and that we could have a good thing going on here. 5 years later, we don’t regret a single bit of this decision! The aspirations keep on growing. It feels good to have a name that people in this musical genre, here in Portugal, are aware of, but we crave for more, and our goals now are to try and expand our music across human designed borders. It’s something we are really committed to seeing happening in the near future. We want people to know our name, be aware of the existence of this band, to proudly wear our merch, and to love the music we make as much as we do!

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

🎤 Our musical influences differ from band member to band member. It’s very funny to see that we all love old-school metal, but when it comes to the last 20 or 30 years, musically speaking, we all like different things. This can go from experimental music to electronic music, to black metal. Having said that, the bands we find influential can go from A to Z, which concerns not only the band name but also the musical genre.

Revenge Of The Fallen

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

🎤 Well, we had the sound guy of this one place we played some years, who didn’t want us to use microphones on the drums – it wasn’t necessary, he said.  Our sound tech, who has traveled the world with many international acts, told the guy that indeed it was. The resident sound guy then tells us that he has had dozens of different bands in that place and none had ever needed to put mics on the drums.
Of course, doing sound hundreds of times, all across the world, with many different artists, our sound tech had a nice chat with him, explaining with much courtesy and education that, in fact, the one who knows best, knows best. We played with mics on the drums. It was so funny to see how people can go from arrogant to understanding when you have an intelligent and educated conversation. We have had this one guy that wanted to negotiate the deal on the night we played after we traveled there. That was funny as hell because he started to talk like a bully and ended the night apologizing and offering beverages to everyone.

Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

🎤 All songs feel special, because we put a lot of work into them.  We don’t just make music in quantity, to have this huge repertoire. We carefully write songs with feeling or passion and with this quality criteria, only letting the best of us come out. There are many songs we have left outside, and by outside we mean we’ll never play them again because they were never good enough for us, let alone for other people to listen to. Still, there’s 🎵 “ILUSÃO”, which is the Portuguese song we did on the last record, that somehow hits differently and hard, every time we play it.

Revenge Of The Fallen

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

🎤 We are all great cooks! For real. If the band ever fails to deliver our expectations, we can always open a restaurant!

Closing out, what is Revenge Of The Fallen currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

🎤 We are still showcasing the 💿 Echo Chambers album that we released last April, until the end of the year. For the future, we are working on it, and we’ll let you all know in due time, what are our evil master plans!

Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.

Our pleasure! Take care!
