Getting to Know... REAVEN [Photo Credits: REAVEN, Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype]For the 81st interview on The Musical Hype, we gain insight from Roméo, the front man of French pop/rock collective REAVEN.

“If you wanna go on an electro trip, sail away in a pop/rock boat to travel the world, you should meet Reaven. 4 strong identities, 4 guys who met along the way leading to a pop-rock universe colored with a provocative electro touch.”  Lifted straight from their bio, certainly is a compelling hook for REAVEN, the band that is the subject of the 81st interview on The Musical Hype.  Comprised of Roméo (Lead Singer / Guitarist / Composer / Songwriter), Vince (Drummer / Back Vocals / Sound Producer), François (Keyboards / Back Vocals) and Rudy (Bassist / Back Vocals), it is Roméo who represents the band for this intriguing interview, answering our burning questions.  Without further ado, The Musical Hype humbly and proudly presents, Getting to Know… REAVEN: Interview #81.

Let’s get this started off right. For those who may not be familiar with REAVEN, what would you say makes your band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

Roméo: I think that we do have very catchy compositions, and a real personal rock sound. We also interact a lot with the audience during a show, and it’s creating a very unique atmosphere & connection!

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did your band form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had as a band early on?

Roméo: It’s a long story of love ahah, but to cut it short, we started to make music together at school, years ago. It began with concerts in our hometown for Vince and me. But we always wanted to tour everywhere. And this is where our 1st European tours arrived in our story… Before the US tour we were supposed to give in 2020.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

Roméo: I think there are some differences between our first steps and vision in the industry and now. At the beginning, I think we were always dreaming about everything in the musician life. Now, we have discovered through all these years, that living of our passion is made of hard work, patience and determination!

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

Roméo: We do have a very large panel of influences. Musically, from the Woodstock years, The Beatles etc… to more recent bands like Kings of Leon, Muse etc…

We also have Rhythm’n’blues, classical and jazz influences… I guess we’ve been influenced by their sounds and the way they build a composition! The Beatles, for example, always have very catchy melodies and I guess because of them I always paid a special attention to the melodies in my compositions.”

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

Roméo: The craziest tour story must be something that happened in London. We gave 2 shows in London in 2018. We took the Eurostar from Paris at 5 a.m. and arrived in London early in the morning. We were supposed to go and put all our music backline in the Airbnb we rented. BUT the supposed Airbnb didn’t exist (the announce/host was a fake), so we were in London, tired, with all the instruments, with nowhere to sleep, so we took a big hotel room. Then we went to the concert place for our first show. 5 minutes before the show, a sound engineer went on stage, dropped my guitar, broke a string and lost my “vibrato’s spring” so it was impossible to play on my instrument anymore ahah!

Wow! Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

Roméo: I guess our song “For Tomorrow” is a very special song to us. It’s a song we will release on our next album (this is also the title of the next album). It’s more an anthem than a song, and there is always a special connection with the audience when we play this song.”

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Roméo: Yes, a hidden skill, we cook very well ahah!!

Closing this thing out, what is you/your band currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Roméo:“We are actually working on our next album (it will be released this year I think). And also, re-scheduling our European tour and US tour for 2021… We have released 2 new singles; you can listen to them here:

Listen to “Escape” on the digital platform you want here: https://lnkfi.re/reavenescape

Listen to “Hope” on the digital platform you want here: https://lnkfi.re/hopereaven

And during the quarantine we also made an “homemade” music video:

Thank you, guys!! Take care!! Hope to see you at one of our shows soon!!”

Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
