Getting to Know… RADA Unearthed | Interview 🎤

In the Q&A in our 436^th Getting to Know… series, we get the inside scoop about RADA Unearthed. 

“RADA Unearthed is important because it also creates a platform for artists to showcase their talents and thus enables RADA to give back to the arts.” That is nothing short of awesome, RADA Unearthed! When describing what makes the ‘music side of the humanitarian organization’ distinct, RADA Unearthed asserts that “All the tracks on our albums share messages of inspiration, hope, positivity, and encouragement,” adding, “There is a realness to the lyrics which are intended to connect with those who need to hear a direct message.” We get the inside scoop on RADA and specifically, the genesis, goals, musical influences, and current and future musical endeavors of RADA Unearthed. So, without further ado, let’s jump into Getting to Know… RADA Unearthed: Interview No. 436!

For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes RADA Unearthed distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

RADA Unearthed has worked with some well-known artists and some very new artists who have just started out in the music world. “Together We Are Stronger” is our third collaborative track and is part of our fourth album – RADA Unearthed Vol. 3. The collab songs are a lot of fun and involve the artists on each album. All the tracks on our albums share messages of inspiration, hope, positivity, and encouragement. There is a realness to the lyrics which are intended to connect with those who need to hear a direct message.

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did RADA Unearthed form, and what were some of your goals or visions early?

RADA Unearthed was born when the organization of RADA was created. RADA Unearthed is the music side of the humanitarian organization named RADA and is used as a platform to spread the message of empowerment. We believe that music ignites the soul and is a universal language that has the power to connect individual hearts to one another. It is the medium that can evoke emotions without saying a word and what better way to spread a message of love, inspiration, and empowerment through music. RADA Unearthed is important because it also creates a platform for artists to showcase their talents and thus enables RADA to give back to the arts. The vision is to spread the music far and wide in the hope people will resonate with the messages of love, hope, and inspiration.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

Our goals have always been to create music that carries messages of love, peace, and positive change.  So, we will always be working on the next song and the next album.  I don’t see that ever stopping.  We love the process; it really does connect so many people.  It’s all about inspiring people to care for others and help where possible, small things can make an enormous difference to the lives of those who need assistance.  Music is an amazing catalyst.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

Music from the 80s I would say.  It’s ‘comfort music’.  Familiar.  Songs that bring back great memories, good times, and songs I do my absolute best to sing along to. 😉.

To this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

I would say “Undefeated” –  this is on the RADA Unearthed Vol.2 album.  Another collaboration song.  It carries an immensely powerful message to humanity.   It is probably the anthem song for RADA, we always blast it out and over all our charity events.  It should be played at top volume.  I love it because it makes one take a step back and rise above one’s immediate situation to see the much bigger picture.  We overcome darkness through light, we can do this if “We Stand Together” because “Together We Are Stronger”.  You see what I did there…mentioned all three collab songs in my answer 😉.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left-of-center we should know about RADA Unearthed? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

The music produced by RADA Unearthed, well, all the royalties generated from streaming or airplay, is used to support the humanitarian work being done in vulnerable communities around South Africa by RADA.  They have adopted thirty-eight homes, centers, and projects thus far, which are cared for monthly with the support of sponsors.

What is RADA Unearthed currently working on or promoting that you can share? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure. 

We will be releasing four more singles next year all part of Vol 3 while planning Vol.4.  This means we will be back in the studio early in 2025 producing new tracks, meeting new artists, and reconnecting with some familiar talent. That’s all I can say for now.
