Getting to Know... Mudfight: Interview #86 [Photo Credits: Mudfight, Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype]For the 86th interview on The Musical Hype, we maintain some international flair getting the scoop from Austrian punk band, Mudfight.

“We are passionate musicians with big motivation to go on stage and doing things our way!” Passion, ambition – sounds good to me!  Austrian punk band Mudfight appear as the interviewees on the 86th interview in the Getting to Know… series on The Musical Hype. Keeping it worldwide as we do here on The Musical Hype, if memory serves me correctly, this is the first band that has appeared from Austria.  Rock TF on! When asked how they rock the audience’s socks off, the energetic collective offers this response: “We always try to fuel the audience and let everybody enjoy the time!”

Mudfight is comprised of three members: Max Nine (bass and vocals), Alex Lausegger (guitar), and Dominik Neugebauer (drums).  Max specifically provides us with some truly colorful, and as always, insightful responses regarding the Austrian trio.  So, without any further delay, let’s jump right into Getting to Know… Mudfight: Interview #86!

Let’s get this started off right. For those who may not be familiar with Mudfight, what would you say makes your band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

Mudfight: First, we would like to introduce ourselves! We are the Austrian punk band Mudfight, and we are passionate musicians with big motivation to go on stage and doing things our way!

Although we come out of the punk scene, we love to try something new every time! We have a distinct sound, but you can’t lump our music together as pure punk rock! We guess that is what makes us special! We always try to fuel the audience and let everybody enjoy the time! We already have some crazy show ideas that we want to do when things turn back to normal!

Mudfight [Photo Credit: Mudfight]Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did Mudfight form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had as a band early on?

Mudfight: Max (bass/vocals) basically founded the band, as he wanted to bring back punk rock to the people.

Max: I asked Dominik (drums) while partying in town and during the next days we formed a band, first called, ‘Scumbag’! The lineup changed a lot over time until Alex (guitar) addressed me about our band in our hometown. We talked a lot about rock music and the next day, he was our new guitarist!

Mudfight: I think the goal of each of us would be to be able to make a living from music and to have as much fun as possible.

Cool. Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

Mudfight: Our goals have not really changed that much. For example, playing in a bigger venue, like the Gasometer in Vienna, or at a big festival would be an extremely cool thing for us! Supporting our role models would also be awesome as fuck!

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

Max: My main musical inspiration is of course my all-time favorite band Green Day! They introduced me into that kind of music, and I am a fan now for more than 12 years! Lyrically, I take inspiration mostly out of personal experiences!

Mudfight: For all of us, there are so many other bands to name as well, like Blink-182, Nirvana, The Ramones, AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, The Descendents, …

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

Mudfight: One time, Max got sick shortly before a gig and we thought we had to cancel everything, so Dominik and Alex decided to play the gig without him and rehearsed the lyrics etc. on the train. It was a crazy performance, but in the end, everyone had a good time, except for Max of course…

Max: It was shitty for me yeah… but I got well soon, that was the good thing! ^^

Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

Mudfight: That would be one of our upcoming songs called “Flash in The Pan.” This song is super fun to play and the people always enjoy it! It’s that summer feeling punk rock song, that fits to every positive scene! Be it a skate park, a summer party, hanging out at the lake or an American Pie movie haha! ^^

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Mudfight: Alex learned to beatbox as a child, guess that´s a hidden talent! ^^

There are probably more, but they won’t come to our minds at the moment…

Closing things out, what is Mudfight currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Mudfight: We will release our first EP on the 12th of June 2020 called Safe Zone.  We put loads of work into it and would be happy if you could drop by! 😊 More information can be found on our Instagram page (@mudfightband)! The rest only time will show! 😉

Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.

Mudfight: Thank you too, for that great opportunity! Anytime! Bye!
