In the 459th Q&A in our Getting to Know… series, we get the inside scoop from the Italian black/death metal band Linistit.
“Through our dark and melodic riffs, we hope to catch the audience.” Right on, Linistit! In our 459th Q&A interview on the Musical Hype, we get the inside scoop on the Italian black/death metal band’s genesis, goals, musical influences, and current and future musical endeavors. So, without further ado, let’s jump into Getting to Know… Linistit: Interview No. 459!
For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes Linistit distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?
We just work as professionally as we can, and through our dark and melodic riffs, we hope to catch the audience.
Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did Linistit form, and what were some of your goals or visions early?
Linistit was born in 2012 from an idea of Claudio Pluchino (Angelus, rhythmic guitar) and Maria Spada (Triria, voice ). The two composed together the first four tracks based on black and death metal. This is the first composing experience of extreme music for them, made with commitment but without expectations. Between 2013 and 2014, Angelus and Triria decided to search for the remaining components to try to form a band. They start rehearsing with some musicians with whom, however, one could not find the right musical and compositional tuning. The Linistit project was shelved for a while.
In 2016, with the entry of guitarist Vincenzo Abbate (Katros, lead guitar), a strong compactness of group spirit was born. In 2017, the three completed the formation with the insertion of Michele Barrano (Black Beast, drums, ex-Throne Of Molok) and Paolo Baglieri (Damevil, bass guitar). In 2022, our bassist left the band for personal reasons. The new bassist, Claudio D’Angelo (Valak), takes his place. With the complete line-up, serious work began on the project, maintaining a good rhythm of rehearsals and musical composition. From the work of the five components were born six pieces, plus an intro. In 2018, Linistit released their first music video clip of the song, “Linistit.” In the meantime, the six tracks and the intro were completed to make their first album, Evil Arises. In February 2021, another video clip was released, “Anneliese.”
These two tracks are part of the Evil Arises album released on March 5, 2021, by Volcano Records. In August 2022, the band started to produce new tracks. A video clip was produced for one track in particular, “Rose Of Eden Garden”.
Let’s talk more about goals. Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?
We have many plans, especially about playing live, and we are composing new tracks for the next album.
Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences, and how are they influential?
All of us have different music backgrounds, but we are also influenced by some bands that we have in common.
Ah, the fun stuff. What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance? Feel free to be creative.
We always have the chance to meet funny and crazy people during our live sessions. Could be the owner of the pub or a member of another band, we have fun together, and they make us laughing so much.
To this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?
Our last release, “Rose Of Eden Garden.” This song had the power to change a bit of our life. Thanks to this song, we will play live outside Italy for the first time.
Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left-of-center we should know about Linistit? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?
Not really, just a reminder to our fans and others to support us and to listen to our music. You will not regret it.
What is Linistit currently working on or promoting that you can share? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.
