“My music is where the heart of rock’s golden era beats with a modern rhythm.” Awesome, Linder Avenue Band! Mario Malatesta, the brainchild, answers our burning questions regarding the Linder Avenue Band, which he confirms “is not a ‘band’ per se.” He provides the inside scoop on the project’s genesis, goals, musical influences, and current, and future musical endeavors. So, without further ado, let’s jump into Getting to Know… Linder Avenue Band: Interview No. 410!

For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes Linder Avenue Band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

I [Mario Malatesta] hope my music stylistically transports listeners back to a time of catchy melodies, interesting harmonies, and loud guitars. I have been influenced by the iconic bands of the 70s and 80s. My music is where the heart of rock’s golden era beats with a modern rhythm.

Mario MalatestaOkay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did the Linder Avenue Band form, and what were some of your goals or visions early on?

The Linder Avenue Band is not a “band” per se. I am a singer, and songwriter who plays guitar and have assembled local Las Vegas musicians, as well as musicians from Chicago, to record with to bring my writing alive. The musicians who played on my sessions are outstanding players and singers and they have made their own creative contributions to the tracks.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

I try to focus on what I have some control over. Writing good songs and having them performed and produced well. Then, you can only hope your music will be received favorably by your listeners. I hope to write, arrange, record, and release a few songs every year.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

My list of musicians who have inspired me is long. To mention a few, the legendary riffs of Jimmy Page and the melodic sensibilities of The Beatles have influenced me.

Mario MalatestaAh, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

The Linder Ave Band is a studio project. I do not have a touring band.

Until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

My next release, “Midnight Mischief”, coming out on June 7th, is a song about the Las Vegas Strip. Although the song could be relatable to any hotspot in any city. I think this song captures all the power pop melodic rock elements associated with the Linder Ave Band.

Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
