Getting to Know... Ghostatic [Photo Credits: Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype, Adamo Fiscell, Ghostatic]For the 52nd interview on The Musical Hype, Ghostatic (Adamo Fiscella) provides some sick, tremendous insight into his musical craft.

“I try to create a dynamic environment with different vocal characteristics, both aggressive and atmospheric synths, over a bed of heavy bass and percussion.” Awesome by all means, if I do say so myself! Ghostatic (Adamo Fiscella), the subject of the 52nd interview in the Getting to Know… series, clearly characterizes his music, when prompted about what makes him unique.  You could definitely describe him as ‘woke’ as he describes his “modern take on industrial/electronic rock.” Later, the self-described musical alchemist / paranormal explorer provides even more insight, delivering a compelling, thoughtful vision of what he sought to attain musically: “My vision was to create a sonic package that hasn’t quite been done yet.  Then finding a way to translate it live.” Again, awesome by all means.  Want to get even more awesomeness regarding this one-mand band? Well, you should dive into Getting to Know… Ghostatic – Interview #52!

Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype (Faulkner): Let’s get this started off right. For those who may not be familiar with Ghostatic, what would you say makes you distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

Ghostatic: I hate these terms for a genre for the simple fact that there hasn’t been a breakout artist in either for decades, but it’s a modern take on Industrial/Electronic Rock.  Which by default, makes it somewhat unique.  I try to create a dynamic environment with different vocal characteristics, both aggressive and atmospheric synths, over a bed of heavy bass and percussion. Then sprinkling in live instruments like guitars and real drums.  Basically, a little bit of everything.  The vocals are what glue it all together without you thinking is a different artist with every track.

Faulkner: Love the characterization of your music! Let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did Ghostatic form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had early on?

Ghostatic: Since it’s a one-man band, for the time being, it all formed in my head. Not juicy, but mentally debilitating… Doing it all.  My vision was to create a sonic package that hasn’t quite been done yet.  Then finding a way to translate it live.  Difficult, I know.  But there’s nothing wrong with setting the bar high, right?

Faulkner: Love it! Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

Ghostatic: No. I’ve never wavered. From my days in bands to ghost writing, singing, and producing for other projects, to present day with Ghostatic, my goal has always been to be original and pave my own path in this industry.  To be a producer’s producer.  A vocalist who vocalists want to study. An unorthodox, yet successful writer.

Faulkner: Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

Ghostatic: Imagine if NIN came out in 2020…  Right here. Just kidding. I know I’m reaching.  But Trent [Reznor] is definitely an influence. Same with other legends from that era like Maynard James Keenan, and Jerry Cantrell.  But I’m also influenced by many modern-day electronic music artists/producers.  Guys like Rob Swire, Kill the Noise, Nero, and The Midnight to name a few. Artists like these have exponentially changed the standard for commercial loudness, production detail, and sound design.

Faulkner: Funny – the NIN reference J Ah, the fun stuff! What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

Ghostatic: I had my pants ripped, from balls to butt, by someone in the crowd and had a shoe stolen then a bra stuffed in it and thrown back on stage all within the first song of a show I played with my old band, Ark Peninsula.  Ghostatic hasn’t been on the road yet.  But I am booking out for the summer so stay posted!

Ghostatic [Photo Credits: Ghostatic]Faulkner: Wow… that’s about all I can say! Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

Ghostatic: Currently, it is a song called “No Turning Back.”  I have not released it yet; most likely it will be my fourth release.  Can’t wait for you to hear it!  Most epic chorus to date.  Who knows – I might write something tonight and change my mind.

Faulkner: Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Ghostatic: The biggest and most obvious would be the TV Show I will be hosting about the paranormal.  It’s something I’ve always been fascinated by.  If you look at my YouTube channel, you will get the gist of what I’m talking about. I’d love to give you more details, but I have to contractually keep my mouth shut until we get the green light.

Faulkner: Closing this thing out, what are you currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Ghostatic: An entire album worth of music!  We all know that there’s no point in releasing albums, unless you’re already established in the game. Every six to eight weeks I’m releasing a new single. New music videos for some of them as well.  Then moving this mega production to the stage this summer!

Faulkner: Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
