Getting to Know... Fools for Kings: Interview #133 [📷 : Fools for Kings, Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype]On the 133rd interview on The Musical Hype, we ‘get the low down’ on British alternative rock band, Fools for Kings.

“We try to get as much variety as we can amongst the songs to cover all of the inspirations that we have individually, not just the common ones as a band.” That’s nothing short of awesome 🎙 Fools for Kings! The Brtish band appears as the interviewees of the 133rd interview on The Musical Hype’s Getting to Know… series.  The alternative rock band’s line-up looks a little something like this: 🎙 Isaac Brady (drums), 🎙 Jordan Picken (lead guitar), 🎙 Kieran Picken (rhythm guitar, lead vocals), and 🎙 Daniel Callaghan (bass).  Enough senseless chat – let’s let the boys of FFK give us the scoop in their own words! Initiating Getting to Know… Fools for Kings: Interview #133 NOW!

Let’s get things started off right! For those who may not be familiar with Fools for Kings, what would you say makes your band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

🎤 We always write our music for the live performance above anything else and we feel that that hopefully shows in our songs as we always want them to have lots of energy and power.  We try to get as much variety as we can amongst the songs to cover all of the inspirations that we have individually, not just the common ones as a band.

Fools for Kings [📷 Fools for Kings]Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did your band form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had as a band early on?

🎤 The band members were all friends at school, and so we decided to form mainly just to play some covers for fun and maybe do a couple of shows and just enjoy ourselves, and it developed into wanting to begin writing original music and trying to get our songs out there to be heard.

Let’s talk more about goals. Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

🎤 Now we are completely focused on wanting to write songs that are great live with lots of energy. The thing that has changed the most is what we started as a hobby we would love to become a job one day and we definitely want to add to the EP hopefully finishing an album at some point.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

🎤 We have many influences between us individually but the common ones we always go with are Royal Blood, Muse, Don Broco as they inspire us to want to write heavy riffs but with very melodic songs and that’s what we strive for.

Fools for Kings, Crown (EP) [📷 Fools for Kings]Ah, the fun stuff. What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance? Feel free to be creative.

🎤 Probably when we were covering 🎵 “Seven Nation Army” at a gig and during the bass part some crowd members started singing our guitarists name instead – it didn’t go down too well with McBassface.

Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favourite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

🎤 I think the favorite recording we have done is 🎵 “Crown”, but to play live I think we would say Secrets is our strongest due to it being the song we would always close a set with thanks to the ending riff being good fun to go crazy on stage to.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

🎤 Our lead singer Kieran has been involved in quite a few theatre productions making his musical range pretty expansive!

Closing things out, what is Fools For Kings currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Well we’ve just released the EP 💿 Crown recently, and we’re using this period of lockdown to write as many songs as we can to eventually take with us to test out live.

Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
