“We like to think of ourselves as high-octane rock n roll… fast, heavy and energetic.” To that I say, rock TF on 🎙 Everyday Dogs – ROCK TF ON! Woo! The Athens, Georgia alt rock band shares with us, on Interview #140, that their initial goals were “making some kickass tunes and playing as many shows as they could around Atlanta and Athens. Of course, goals can remain the same or at least similar, or they can change and evolve.  For Everyday Dogs, it’s a mix.  While we could spend more time summing up the interview, wouldn’t it be easier just to let you hear the background and info from the band itself? Without any more needless fluff, here is Getting to Know… Everyday Dogs: Interview #140.

Starting things off, for those who may not be familiar with Everyday Dogs, what would you say makes your band distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

🎤 Well for starters, we like to think of ourselves as High-Octane Rock n Roll which means that when we play, its fast, heavy and energetic.

Everyday Dogs @ 40 Watt Club, 2-20-2020 [📷: Everyday Dogs]Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did your Everyday Dogs form and what were some of the goals or the visions you had as a band early on?

🎤 We used to all be camp counselors and then started jamming together. At first all we could think about was making some kickass tunes and play as many shows as we could around Atlanta and Athens, from there we began to scheme of our plans to take over the world.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

🎤 We’ve really been doing our best to find a sound in our songwriting that is unmistakably and unapologetically us. The goal is to share what we’ve got with whoever wants to rock out for a little while and make something that resonates with others as much as it does us. Some things have stayed the same, like still writing and playing shows as much as humanly possible.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

🎤 For each member of the band we all have our individual influences and bands we listen to all the time, but some of the bands that line up for all of us are Soundgarden, Avenged Sevenfold, and Alice in Chains. We love that heavy sludgy sound of the 90s and some newer bands that absolutely rip.

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

🎤 One time we were playing “Killing in the Name” at a frat party and the cops showed up right as we started and things got pretty out of hand (as expected).

Everyday Dogs [📷: Everyday Dogs]Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

🎤 We have recorded and played this song live a bunch of times, but it hasn’t been released yet. It’s the first song that I wrote that gets pretty prog rock in nature and I’m really proud of the way it turned out even though its pretty out there. Oh, also it’s got some of the best lyrics I’ve written, its about the Mars rover and it’s an absolute journey.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Two members of the band are proud Eagle Scouts.

Closing thingss out, what is Everyday Dogs currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

On October 23rd we released a spooky season single called 🎵 “Black Fire” (it’s about vampires)! It’s the first thing we’ve released in over a year so check out that witchin’ tune.

Thank you so much for sharing taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
