We experiment with a blend of different genres, and we are not limited to a specific genre of metal, we like to draw influence for any type of music.
Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did Diverted Disorder form and what were some of the goals or visions you had early on?
After a substantial hiatus from the music scene, front man Hardman rediscovered his musical fervor, embarking on a journey of recording songs in his home studio. Collaborating with Jared Gunston Brought forth the first track in January 2021, and so the birth of Diverted Disorder—an idea that had lingered in Hardman’s mind since 2012.
The project officially transitioned into a four-piece band in August 2022, and their inaugural live performance took place on November 26, a momentous occasion for the newly formed group. This progression—from solo recordings to a fully-fledged band—underscores the enduring dedication and passion behind Diverted Disorder.
The band unveiled their debut album, Technical Difficulties, in November 2022, marking a significant milestone in their musical journey. This release serves as a testament to their collective talent and passion for crafting intense, emotionally charged compositions. From heavy riffs that reverberate through your soul to melodic hooks that linger in your mind, Diverted Disorder’s music explores themes of personal struggles, societal challenges, and the intricate tapestry of the human experience.
The album, titled Technical Difficulties, encapsulates the challenges the band faced throughout the recording phase, reflecting the hurdles and obstacles that became an integral part of the creative journey.
Technical Difficulties has resonated with listeners and critics alike, garnering positive feedback and establishing a devoted fan base for the band. At its core, the album reflects the band’s commitment to pushing boundaries and delivering a sonic experience that transcends the ordinary.
Diverted Disorder has been making remarkable strides in the music scene, having embarked on tours and performed at multiple shows. The anticipation is building as the band gears up for the release of their second album in 2024, promising an exciting chapter in their musical journey.
An especially noteworthy development is the band’s plan for a UK tour in August. Touring not only offers a unique opportunity for direct engagement with fans but also serves as a platform to showcase their music to diverse audiences, potentially expanding their reach and influence.
In the midst of these achievements, it would be intriguing to learn more about the thematic inspirations that shape Diverted Disorder’s music and the overarching goals the band envisions with the upcoming album and tour. The creative processes and aspirations behind the music often add depth to the narrative of a band’s evolution.
Let’s talk more about goals. Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?
When we started out, my main goal was to make music, now that the music has started gaining some attraction, I guess our main drive is to get the music to as many people as possible and to make a difference in people’s lives.
Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?
Megadeth, Asking Alexandria and avenged Sevenfold would be my primary influences, but we’re not limited to a style of music as mentioned.
Ah, the fun stuff. What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance? Feel free to be creative.
When the band started out, we used to drink …a lot. We were booked to play a festival and went balls to the wall the night before. We still performed our hearts out, but the moment the show was over, we were men down. (This happened a few times). We’ve stopped drinking before shows… never again.
Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?
For me Hardman, the most fun song to play live is probable “The Void”, because of the energy, but “Ambitions” is my favorite song from thew first album.
Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?
We have one rule, our drummer doesn’t drink, please don’t feed the drummer alcohol, you’re not ready for what’s to come.
Closing out, what is Diverted Disorder currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.
We are embarking on a Possible UK tour and a new album is brewing as we speak.
Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.
