Getting to Know…Crimson Pride: Interview No. 363 [📷: Brent Faulkner / The Musical Hype; Crimson Pride; Tumisu via Pixabay]In the 363rd Q&A in our Getting to Know… series, we get the inside scoop from Switzerland-based rock/alternative metal band, Crimson Pride.

“Each musician has the opportunity to add their personal touch.” That’s terrific – the way that it should be, 🎙 Crimson Pride! The band expounds in response to our first question (distinctiveness and uniqueness), saying, “We all have different musical influences and desires, and it’s this blend that has given birth to our somewhat unconventional style.” Like our many other Getting to Know Q&As, we get the inside scoop on the Switzerland-based rock/alternative metal band: genesis, goals, musical influences, and of course, current, and future musical endeavors. Jo, the guitarist from the collective, answers our burning questions. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into 🎤 Getting to Know… Crimson Pride: Interview No. 363!

For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes Crimson Pride distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

In Crimson Pride, each musician has the opportunity to add their personal touch. We all have different musical influences and desires, and it’s this blend that has given birth to our somewhat unconventional style. If I were to describe it, I would say our music ranges from rock to alternative metal, with hints of hard rock, touches of nu-metal and metalcore, sometimes supported by surprising elements like orchestral instruments and piano. There’s a kind of theatrical aspect to our approach to music, and that’s one of our great strengths.

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did Crimson Pride form and what were some of the goals or visions you had early on?

It’s been a while since all that happened… But it dates back to 2012 when, during a metal festival in Interlaken (Greenfield Festival), we decided to dedicate ourselves body and soul to a joint musical project. The current lineup of the band goes back to 2015. We really wanted to make as much music as possible, and our goal was to be able to perform on the festival stage that brought us together.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

We have certainly evolved a lot, and I would say that our current goals are all about sharing our music as much as possible and playing as many gigs as we can. It’s funny, but after all these years, the goal of playing on the Greenfield Festival stage has never left us; it’s an eternal flame that drives us. The difference now is that we’re getting closer to it, and we can visualize this goal as achievable, a dream within reach.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

There are many… But I think Avenged Sevenfold, Audioslave, Billy Talent, Linkin Park, and Disturbed remain important influences for us. Nevertheless, I believe each musician would have their own answer to this question!

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

One comes to mind… It’s not related to a live performance but rather a funny moment during the shooting of our latest music video, 🎵 “Dark Waters.” During the final scenes with the bathtub, we needed a room large enough to create this “void” effect, a sense of being lost in the middle of nowhere. We filmed this scene in the middle of a farm, which is not visible in the video, but I think there were about twenty cows watching us during the takes. It was a quite surprising audience!

Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

Once again, I think each musician would have their own answer. For me, I would like to mention 🎵 “Crimson Night”. This song is the centerpiece of our latest album. It has a very theatrical aspect, and it’s absolutely divine to play it live. This song was also our very first featuring, a very enriching experience! It’s 9 intense minutes that tell the story of a vampire through nostalgia, ecstasy, madness, and acceptance.

Crimson Pride [📷: Crimson Pride]Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Nothing comes to mind right now. Except maybe the anecdote that we built our own music studio over 11 years ago. We started from scratch, renovating a piece of a stable, and we worked hard on it. We’re very proud of the result. Over time, we perfected it, and now it’s a beautiful rehearsal space where we’ve set up a dedicated area for recording vocals.

Closing out, what is Crimson Pride currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Currently, our biggest focus is on finding concerts and continuing to promote our new album. We’re also already working on future music, but that’s a surprise for later. With the experience we’ve gained, it promises to be something really heavy! Coming up soon, a little surprise will be released before the end of the summer. To be in the front row, you have to follow us on social media!

Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.

Thank you for this interview! – Jo (guitarist) for Crimson Pride.
