“When you include everyone’s unique styles including two very different vocalists, it creates an instant fresh and new sound.” Agreed, 🎙 A Moment of Violence! In response to our first burning question, Desi, leader, chief songwriter, and lead guitarist, expounds, “The listener will have that very cinematic vision while listening to any of our tracks.” Desi, who answers our burning questions, provides the inside scoop on the South Florida metalcore band: the genesis, goals, musical influences, and current and future musical endeavors. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into 🎤 Getting to Know… A Moment of Violence: Interview No. 391!

For those who may not be familiar with you, what would you say makes A Moment of Violence distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

Hello, this Is Desi. I’m the leader, chief songwriter, and lead guitarist for the band. For starters, I’d say that what sets us apart from the rest is the versatility that we bring in our songs and structure. We have six members, all from different backgrounds. When you include everyone’s unique styles including two very different vocalists, it creates an instant fresh and new sound. Next, we aim to write short story movies instead of just a song. The listener will have that very cinematic vision while listening to any of our tracks. As far as “Rocking socks off” goes, the audience gets to see six stellar musicians perfectly executing their parts and visually it’s simply amazing!

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did A Moment of Violence form and what were some of the goals or visions you had early on?

The band started when Scott (drums) and I were playing on an adult softball team together. We knew each other for nearly six months before we realized that we both played heavy music. We initially took some original material that I had written previously and became to work on those songs. In the meantime, we had our feelers out for the rest of the guys. Brent (rhythm guitar) came next, then we found Alex (screaming vocalist). Followed by Russ (clean vocalist). Last but not least, we secured Hatchet as our bassist. Together we’re able to bring something familiar yet quite different to the world.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

Our goal has and always will be to take this band to the moon! Each and every day, we’re putting in the work to take another step closer to that goal with new music, content, and our live show.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

For me, I’d have to say that Dave Mustaine, and Megadeth have played a massive role in my guitar playing and songwriting. As a young kid, I learned almost every Megadeth song note for note, and to say the least, that turned me into a songwriting machine.

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

I mean, every show is special in its own way. Certain songs will get the crowd going as well. That said, my tube blew in my guitar head just before our set, and initially thought that the show would be forfeited. However, we had an awesome sound guy, and he was able to get my amp just loud enough to push it through the sound board and the show ended up being one of my personal favorites to date.

Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

Again, I’d say that each song is special in its own right. However, I’m pretty stoked about the next one to be released. It’s called 🎵 “My Endless Nightmare”. The reason is that this song truly captures every element of each member in its own way. Look out for that one in January 2024.

Is there anything else awesome, cool, or left of center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

Well, other than all of us having extremely different backgrounds and influences, we all have originated from different areas of the United States, and all found each other here in South Florida!

Closing out, what is A Moment of Violence currently working on, promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

Currently we are working on a five song EP after signing with our new label “Wake Up! Music Rocks!”. This has been an awesome partnership so far and we look forward to seeing all of you on the moon. For now, like follow, and engage with our social platforms. See you soon!
