G-Eazy continues his predictable ‘playboy ways’ on banger “Drop,” where he’s assisted by rappers Blac Youngsta and BlocBoy JB.
Despite the fact that he dropped an album mid-December 2017, G-Eazy has continued to drop singles and collaborations on a consistent basis in 2018. In addition to remaining in the spotlight for his musical contributions, he also had a little run-in with the law – eh, just assault and coke. Focusing on the music, Gerald drops a new single, fittingly titled, “Drop.” He’s assisted by Black Youngsta and BlocBoy JB.
“Drop” begins with an unimportant intro by Blac Youngsta, followed by the most predictable chorus ever. If you guessed that the majority encompasses the song title, you’d be correct. G-Eazy contributes with his signature “ayy” after each “drop,” before joining Blac for “Toot it up, drop.” So deep, said no one ever. Eazy drops his first verse, in all its mediocrity and predictability. He references bands, ‘the sunken place’, and his favorite topic, sex. “Drop, in her walls, yeah, ooh, in her walls / For a hour plus, I just missed like twenty calls.” Predictable. Throughout his career he’s presented himself as the ultimate f-boy.
Naturally, Blac Youngsta and BlocBoy JB drop their respective verses on this banger. Blac Youngsta continues with sexual references but doesn’t seem to be into hoes… Hmm. As for BlocBoy JB, the misogyny is real, as he closes out his verse rapping, “And we don’t love ‘em, we just strictly toss bitches / Loft bitches, boss bitches / The letter ‘T,’ the way I double cross bitches.” Been there, done that, unfortunately.
Final Thoughts
So, how does this G-Eazy, Blac Youngsta, BlocBoy JB banger stack up? It’s okay – that’s about the size of it. The production is respectable by all means, but nothing game changing at this point. As for the rhymes on this particular joint, none of the rappers can lay claim to the most accomplished in the game. Final verdict – it may temporary whet the palate, but it’s ultimately forgettable.
