Future and Drake miss the mark on latest collaboration, “Used to This.” Essentially, the single is an empty flex track that is mediocre at best.
Future continues to be prolific throughout 2016. Similarly, his partner-in-crime Drake also sees no shortage of material in 2016. Unsurprisingly, Future enlists Drake to join him on another collaboration, “Used to This.” While the union has been successful more often than not, they miss the mark on “Used to This.” Simply put, the results are mediocre at best.
“Used to This” is produced by standout Zaytoven, who recently produced for Gucci Mane (Everybody Looking). His production work is sound, but isn’t enough to save the song per se. Essentially, he brags about the fortune that he has amassed. Drake pop-raps his guest verse, notably much clearer than Future’s verse. He switches to hard-hitting rapping the second half
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, much like Future brags that he’s “used to this,” so are we – the listeners. He doesn’t offer anything new as he has flexed numerous times throughout his career. The mumbling, the autotune, even another collaboration with Drake feel like old hat.
