Grammy-winning rapper Future continues a career-long flex-fest on single “100 Shooters,” assisted by rappers Meek Mill and Doe Boy.
Future never seems to stop releasing music. The Grammy-winning rapper has released an album (Future Hndrxx Presents: The WIZRD) and an EP (Save Me) in the first half of 2019. As prolific as he’s been in 2019, he drops a new single, “100 Shooters,” that’s not attached to either of his previously released projects. He’s assisted by Meek Mill and Doe Boy.
“100 Shooters” is a respectable trap banger from Future all in all – it checks off the usual boxes we expected from the Atlanta rapper. He’s backed by sleek, ear-catching production work, courtesy of Tay Keith and Cubeatz. He delivers a catchy hook that serves as the centerpiece of the record. It goes a little something like this:
“Perrier-Jouët, no tap water, this the real face
Fuck the bitch, broke her heart, she think we still dating
Three choppers sitting in the car, we play it real safe
Fifty million dollars in cash, that’s a cold case
Spent so much cash in Chanel, they wanna see ID
Bust down on her, ‘Oochie Wally’, I’m so sincere
Got a hundred shooters sittin’ outside
Got a hundred shooters sittin’ outside.”
Meek Mill follows with the first verse, which focuses on drip (“Fifty ‘mil buried in my safe, that’s a graveyard”), sex (“Famous ho, she threw me that pussy, I’ma slay her raw, yeah”), and of course, ‘shooters’ (“Hundred shooters, I can get your clique hit”). He also manages to reference James Harden, giving ‘shooters’ a different context. Future takes the second verse, saying nothing particularly notable per se, but dripped out and sexed-up (“Bad bitch tried to rape me, tried to pull my cock out…”). Yeah, that last line there was… um… anyways, Doe Boy takes the third and final verse, asserting “All my bitches treat me just like God,” as well as “Give a fuck about the feds, I ain’t scared.”
Final Thoughts
As stated previously, “100 Shooters” is a respectable trap banger from Future. Does it move the needle at this point in the rapper’s career? Absolutely not. He’s become quite saturated, and “100 Shooters” does little to change that or shake up the formula. He’s flexing, but the record isn’t particularly distinct of anything he’s released up to this point.
