Frederik Cornelius, Someday | Track Review 🎵

Frederik Cornelius is a singer who is making a reputable name for himself globally. Also, already a celebrity in his home nation of Denmark, the singer is reaching new heights with his latest single “Someday”.

The track is the first single for the artist in 2020, and it has all the ingredients to be a hit. It is all about someday getting to the one you love the most. Well, Frederik, we hope you get there soon. Although, you promise you will keep writing tracks like this, right?

Let’s get into the song. I will start with the prelude; it begins with a baby sounding chime you would expect to hear next to a newborns bed, not hugely sure why this made it into the song. But, hey ho, we then get into the track with a piercing drum beat punching its way out of the speakers followed by a gradually increasing synth lead which works in harmony with the rhythm section. On top of the backbeat, there is a thumping bass line which grabbed me and pulled me off my chair.

It is then straight to the vocals, and we hear a pretty sublime performance from the Dane. He has a knack for creating catchy hooks and strong melodies, and that is what he has done here. The track is an indie-pop gem but try and not expect anything electric within it as the sound gives off a more unplugged sound. But, I like the folky feel, and I doubt it would have benefited from more of an electric guitar focus, for example.

The track has heaps of variance. There is even a bluesy guitar ringing out towards the latter, which I was not expecting. If you put the mix down on paper, you would probably think it does not make sense. But having listened to this quite a few times now, it works perfectly.
