South African-born, Canadian singer-songwriter and producer Francois Klark has returned.  After impressing with his 2017 debut single, “Spaceman,” he keeps the momentum going strong with “Run.” “Run” commences with an ear-catching, unique percussive groove.  Quirky initially, it eventually settles in, beginning with the first verse. Throughout its course, “Run” is enthusiastic and incredibly optimistic-sounding. Set in a good ole, happy major key, it’s all sunshine for KlarkAdding to his ‘sunny day’ are clear, beautiful vocals, which paint his radiant backdrop with absolute perfection. Sigh.

Regarding the form of “Run,” Klark keeps things simple and standard. Two verses, each followed by a chorus, a bridge, and then an outgoing chorus.  The chorus isn’t deep lyrically, but effective, memorable, and simple. In this case, the simplicity – repetition – is a great selling point. The bridge ranks as one of the highlights of “Run,” incorporating some slick vocal effects.  Aside from the bold percussion introduced at the jump, this marks the most innovative moment of the record.

Final Thoughts

All in all, the rising Canadian artist continues to impress on his journey to stardom.  Regardless whether “Run” changes your life or not, it’s an intriguing record.  Strong production –  particularly the drums – appealing, clear vocals, and that unique bridge make “Run” a winner.
