Rising R&B singer Fousheé shines on the short but absolutely, utterly sweet, must-hear single, “Deep End.”
Fousheé seems destined to do big things, period. The R&B singer is on [autopilot] from the start of “Deep End.” No beating around any bushes, let’s just jump right in. This brief record – a mere two minutes and 21 seconds – is incredibly potent. While it’s primarily R&B, there are hip-hop sensibilities, which honestly only make it that much fresher. It begins with an intro, which eventually becomes the chorus.
Here, Fousheé gives us commanding, expressive, and nuanced vocals. Her abilities are nothing short of awe-inspiring. Furthermore, she conveys a big personality, which speaks to her artistry. She’s classy given her vocal abilities, but she’s also not afraid to bring in some ‘stank’ – get a bit ‘street’ if you will. As aforementioned, it is the R&B vocals that dominate, however, she’s equally effective when she ‘busts a rhyme.’ Throughout all of this track that she produces alongside BIANKO, we get a vibe-laden backdrop that’s fresh, moody, and set in a minor key.
Another winning aspect of “Deep End” is the form. This is a well-organized record that yields no shocking twists and turns. While unpredictability can be a virtue, the straightforward nature of “Deep End” is a pro, with Fousheé doing enough artistically to distinguish herself without the form doing so. As you’d expect, the chorus is the crowning achievement:
“I been trying not to go off the deep end I don’t think you wanna give me a reason...”
Final Thoughts
All in all, Fousheé shines ‘bright like a diamond’ on “Deep End.” Boxes are easily ticked off for a solid, enjoyable R&B record with some hip-hop crossover. The first time you hear her sing, you just know ‘this girl has got it’ – it being the IT factor. If you’re looking for quality and attitude, then “Deep End” is just what the doctor ordered!
