In the 18th edition of Music Lifts (2024), we’re uplifted by Forrest Frank and Caleb Gordon performing, “GOD IS GOOD.”
Welcome to Music Lifts 🎶 🏋, a column that seeks to highlight songs that encourage, inspire, and uplift the spirit; songs that exude fortitude, positivity, and resolve, even in the face of adversity. Featured songs aren’t genre-specific; songs may or may not be faith-based. The goal is for these songs to make you feel better – be LIFTED to new heights! So, for the 18th edition of Music Lifts 🎶 🏋 (2024), we highlight “GOD IS GOOD” as performed by Forrest Frank and Caleb Gordon.
“God is good, all the time / If he ain’t then you lying.” Forrest Frank, you ain’t lying in the least! The Christian pop musician, best known as half of the pop duo, Surfaces, continues singing, “In the rain, in the shine / God is good all the time.” In the chorus of the single “GOD IS GOOD”, the opener from the GOD IS GOOD (EP), Frank’s faith is undisputed. He gives praise to the Most High, period. He collaborates with another faithful artist, rapper Caleb Gordon. Both pen this contemporary song of praise, while Frank produces it.
Besides the centerpiece, the chorus, Forrest Frank delivers the first verse. The lyrics aren’t poetic, but Frank makes his point. “Some days be the best… / Some days be the worst,” he sings, adding, “Guess what? You woke up today (today) / Put a big smile on your face (your face) / ‘Cause one thing ain’t never gonna change / GOD IS GOOD!” Caleb Gordon drops the laudatory bars in the second verse, preaching His goodness: “Popped up that grave, like I popped up that hood / Popped off that chain, when I popped out that book / Say that one name, watch a demon get shook.” Woo! Backed by a sick instrumental (the beat, keys, and synths), Forrest Frank and Caleb Gordon bring the heat – for G-O-D – on “GOD IS GOOD”.
