Flo Rida, Dancer © Atlantic‘Rapper’ Flo Rida does what he does best on latest single “Dancer” – drop an enjoyable, if somewhat cliché pop hit.

Keeping it 100, Flo Rida hasn’t been ‘hard’ for years.  You could take that statement even further and say he’s never been that hard.  The pop-rapper returns with a new single, “Dancer.” “Dancer” features a pop-oriented sound. Essentially, it is an urban-pop record that is readymade for pop radio. Is Flo even pop-rapping? Not really – he’s flat out singing.  That said, the results are charming – pleasant.  Perhaps the better way to describe “Dancer” is catchy.  The first instance of this is the pre-chorus.

“One money, two honey
How much can I throw?
And for her I can’t say no
Oh, I won’t let go.”

The pre-chorus is corny mind you, but certainly memorable.  The chorus that follows, likewise is catchy and incredibly appealing. Flo Rida sings:

“I fell in love with a dancer, dancer
Throwing all this cake, ooh
It’s your birthday girl, I like that there
I’m in love, I’m in love, I’m in love with a dancer, dancer
In the champagne room until the sun comes up, oh my god
I’m in love, I’m in love, I’m in love with a.”

Following two verses and choruses, Flo drops a strong bridge.  Here, he does a great job of bringing down the energy from the chorus that precedes it, just to build it right back up on the final chorus.

Final Thoughts

Flo Rida doesn’t reinvent the wheel on “Dancer,” but he does drop another ‘hit.’ As aforementioned, “Dancer” is readymade for pop radio.  Yeah, perhaps it’s a bit cliché, but definitely enjoyable.
