LGBTQ+ 🏳️🌈 pop standouts FLETCHER and Hayley Kiyoko bring the heat on their brief, fun, and sexy single, “Cherry.”
T
he LGBTQ+ 🏳️🌈 catalog continues to expand. Pop music is becoming queerer as more artists feel comfortable to sing about their sexuality and sexual preferences. On 🎵 “Cherry”, 🎙 FLETCHER (Cari Fletcher) and 🎙 Hayley Kiyoko (aka Lesbian Jesus), join forces to express their desires for a particular girl. Regardless of your sexuality, everyone should agree on one thing – “Cherry” is a fkn bop!Produced by 🎛 Jonah Shy, the backdrop sets up FLETCHER and Hayley for success. Cari takes first blood, setting up how enticing this lady is. “Your lips when you bite ‘em like this / And I’m blushing real hard got me moving my hips,” she sings on the first verse, adding, “You’re across from me / And it’s hard to breathe.” Yeah, she’s got a big time 🎵 “Girl Crush”! On the chorus, Cari goes on to sing, “I want you on top of me like cherry.” Ooh la la! On the second verse, Kiyoko keeps the lustful vibe going. “Your body’s got me / Out of my mind,” she sings, continuing, “Girl, I’m taking over / Grab your things, we’re going to paradise, paradise.” My, my, my! Both artists sing well, with the personality infused being the biggest selling point.
Final Thoughts 💭
FLETCHER and Hayley Kiyoko make a fabulous, formidable team, period. They do a fantastic job singing about pursuing love with a girl that makes them feel some type of way. What I love about this single is how well executed it is. This isn’t explicit, which is a pro. There are no dirty word or over sexualized moments, nor are any needed. Their personalities, vocals, and solid production by Jonah Shy make this two-and-a-half-minute pop cut a surefire winner.
