Alternative artist Fences returns with “Buffalo Feet” – literally, but not literally. “Buffalo Feet” serves as promo single from forthcoming EP To the Tall Trembling Trees, arriving in September. While “Buffalo Feet” isn’t ‘the second coming’, it’s respectable.
A nice pad is featured at the beginning. The rhythm section enters next, establishing some identity. This opens the door for Fences, who delivers clear vocals that never fighs the production. Further accentuating Fences’ lead vocals are excellent backing vocals, sigh. Essentially, the musicianship is on-point.
Beyond the production and Fences’ pipes, the chorus is catchy. What more could be expected from buffalo feet?
“Hearts beat like buffalo, buffalo / hearts beat”
In addition to the simple, infectious refrain, the bridge section provides sound contrast – it’s relatively cool, calm & collected. Another selling point? The nice build-up section prior to the end.
Final Thoughts
All in all, “Buffalo Feet” is enjoyable and well produced. It benefits from a catchy chorus and is further amplified by backing vocals. Fences himself sounds terrific. It’s not game changing but definitely ear candy…not in a sensual way, though.
