Felix Jaehn, I © RepublicUp-and-coming German DJ Felix Jaehn, assisted by pop musician Marc E. Bassy, and southern rapper, Gucci Mane, drops an infectious, sunny single with “Cool.”

23-year old German DJ Felix Jaehn ‘isn’t holding back’ on I, his full-length debut album. How so? I, arriving February 16, 2018, is comprised of a whopping 25 tracks! 10 singles from the project have been issued prior to the official release.  Among those 10 singles is album opener, “Cool,” featuring Marc E. Bassy and Gucci Mane.

Focusing on the main attraction, Felix Jaehn ‘does work’ when it comes to the production.  Overall, the sound is bright, sunny, and smooth.  The beat is percussive, propelling tropical, feel-good vibes.  The cherry on top on Felix’s end is the addition of synth horns.  Safe to say, Mr. Jaehn provides perfect ‘fuel for the fire’ for his featured guests.

Speaking of featured guests, Marc E. Bassy drops matches the smooth production, delivering smooth vocals on the verses.  His sound is a mix of soulful and tropical pop. As always, Bassy showcases a beautiful tone, further accentuating things with tasteful ad-libs and controlled, but soulful runs.  His chorus is incredibly catchy and infectious from the first time you hear it.

“And now you’re not who you used to be / I don’t know what you’re dying to prove / So hit me up when you’re over being cool / Your new friends will say anything / But if you wanna know the truth / Hit me up when you’re over being cool.”

Gucci Mane drops ‘characteristic,’ southern rap rhymes on the third verse.  He’s accompanied by those sunny-sounding, triumphant horns.

Final Thoughts

Following my first experience with Felix Jaehn, have to say that I’m impressed.  “Cool” is an awesome way to start the album, and Marc E. Bassy and Gucci Mane are the perfect fit fo this particular number.  #Winning.
