In the 15^th edition of Beaming with Pride 🏳️‍🌈 (2024), we highlight the song, “Single in the Club” performed by ETHAN.

Prepare to beam with P-R-I-D-E 🏳️‍🌈! Beaming with Pride 🏳️‍🌈 celebrates, embraces, and spotlights songs by LGBTQ musicians or allies.  In this column, we provide background and insight into the respective musician(s), as well as analyze + go gaga over the decadent bops being served up.  Furthermore, when the music dictates deeper, more transcendent discussion, we ensure the point is articulated to the fullest.  All styles of music are welcome while the songs can be classics or brand-spanking new. So, without further ado, in the 15^th edition of Beaming with Pride 🏳️‍🌈 (2024), we highlight “Single in the Club” performed by ETHAN.

“Loosen my body / Got me all choked up / Stressed out for what? / Now I’m off your drug.” Ooh-wee! I felt that 😮‍💨! I’d be remiss if I failed to mention how chiseled, handsome, and sexy ETHAN (Ethan Choryin Luo) is 😍. That fella right there – smoking hawt! The producer, singer, and songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand, based in Sydney, Australia, is also incredibly talented beyond those dashing good looks.  You could say, he makes us beam with Pride in more ways than one! He unveiled his EP, DIVINE INTERVENTION in March 2024. Among the gems is his short but potent and ultra-sexy single, “Single in the Club”. Judging by his looks, and the swagger he carries in the song, I have no doubt the singledom is short lived 😜!

“One at a time, they’re coming at me

Under disguise, brand-new city

Slowly defining what it means to be

Free.”

Indeed, ETHAN, indeed! “Single in the Club” is slickly produced – a collaboration between ETHAN, Zach Bahn, Adam Buckingham, and Benjamin DeSoto Mayor. The instrumental is giving urban-dance-pop through and through.  Essentially, it sounds like the club, which is exactly what the pop musician is going for.  His voice ‘kicks ass and takes names.’ He sounds youthful and nuanced, flaunting a fabulous tone.  You know what else is fabulous? His riffs and runs. In addition to the elite nature of his pipes, there are pitch-shifted vocals and some sickening vocals effects in play. The melodic lines are fast-paced and rhythmic, also matching the clubby vibes.  The songwriting (ETHAN and Isadora Soliman) feels liberated, loose, and ‘ready for some action’:

“Won’t recognize me I’m moving different

Got up my stacks, brand-new vision

Got a new boy call me masterpiece

Van Gogh, Monet, painted like Matisse.”

ETHAN – a hottie who can ‘sang’ the phone book? It’s giving a hard YAAAS PLZ! “Single in the Club”: a bop that exemplifies Beaming with Pride 🏳️‍🌈.
