ETHAN, Everything u need | Song Review

Handsome and talented New Zealand singer-songwriter ETHAN drops another sensational pop/R&B bop with “Everything u need.”

Well, now, ETHAN (Ethan Choryin Luo)… Dude, I thought we had something special?! I thought we were tight, my guy! I’ll forgive that handsome face, toned body, and most of all, those talented pipes, particularly hearing the enjoyable, though heartbroken, regretful single, “Everything u need”.  Yes, ETHAN messed up, but he knows that he is everything this nameless boy needs. ETHAN composed “Everything u need” with producer KLIPO.

“Everything u need” is a vibe from the get-go. The ears perk up thanks to the cool but potent synths and an electrifying groove.  The ears perk up even more thanks to ETHAN’s calm, cool, and collected vocals.  Although his performance is potent, he does not sound like he breaks a sweat. I love the legato nature of the melody throughout the first verse (excerpted earlier), pre-chorus, and chorus.  In the pre-chorus, ETHAN asks, “How are you still here?” and adds that he “Promised I’d change, but you know I can’t.” Damn, E! The chorus is quite tuneful and features memorable lyrics:

“I know I’ll never be good for you, babe

Hurt you so bad, but I’m everything you need, thing you need

I know you’ll never be the one to walk away

Hurt you so bad, but I’m everything you need, thing you need.”

Noted, ETHAN. The second verse is far more rhythmic compared to the first.  He admits his wrongs, but also acknowledges his ex’s flaws, too. In the second pre-chorus, he states, “I wish you could stop being so hard on me / But God knows I haven’t made it easy.” At least he’s self-aware.  Following the chorus, ETHAN drops the outro, confirming everything, of course! All in all, “Everything u need” is another winner from the handsome and remarkably talented singer-songwriter from New Zealand.
