Welcome to Music Lifts ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿ‹, a column highlighting songs that encourage, inspire, and uplift the spirit; songs exuding fortitude, positivity, and resolve, even in the face of adversity.ย  Featured songs arenโ€™t genre-specific; songs may or may not be faith-based. The goal is for these songs to make you feel better โ€“ be LIFTED to new heights!ย  So, for the 26th edition of Music Lifts ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿ‹ (2024), we highlight โ€œTrust in Godโ€ย as performed by Elevation Worship featuring Chris Brown.

Elevation Worship, CAN YOU IMAGINE? [๐Ÿ“ท: Elevation Worship]โ€œโ€˜Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mineโ€™ / Heโ€™s been my fourth man in the fire time after time.โ€ The soul-stirring, contemporary Christian song, โ€œTrust in Godโ€ begins by quoting a beloved hymn.ย  From there, this gem from contemporary worship band, Elevation Worship (out of Elevation Church) and Chris Brown (not the R&B artist) reference Daniel 3:24-26, where King Nebuchadnezzar is amazed to see the three men thrown in the fire, unharmed, as well as a fourth, described as a divine being โ€“ a son of the gods. After quoting โ€œBlessed Assuranceโ€ once more, Brown, who leads, testifies, โ€œAnd what He did on Calvary is more than enough.โ€ And because of His awesomeness, Brown proclaims in the tuneful, rousing chorus, โ€œI trust in God, my Savior / The One who will never fail / He will never fail.โ€ Amen!

balancing a barbell on fingerThatโ€™s merely one verse and the chorus of โ€œTrust in God,โ€ written by Brown, Brandon Lake, Steven Furtick, and Mitch Wong.ย  From the beginning, โ€œTrust in Godโ€ speaks to Godโ€™s awesomeness, goodness, and mercifulness. It ministers why He should be lauded and magnified โ€“ He is great! In the second verse, Brown testifies more, describing God as โ€œthe author of tomorrow has ordered my steps.โ€ Hallelujah! In the bridge, Elevation Worship lauds Him even more: โ€œI sought the Lord and He heard, and He answered / Thatโ€™s why I trust him, thatโ€™s why I trust him.โ€ โ€œTrust in Godโ€ is a powerful, powerful song. Sometimes contemporary Christian music doesnโ€™t rouse me as much as gospel (personal preference), but the moment I heard this song, it truly encouraged my heart and soul. Trust in God; โ€œHe will never fail!โ€
