Talented, Los Angeles musicians EEL SOS and Classy Williams join forces for some fantastic, ‘groove-tastic,’ ear candy on single, “Say Anything.”
The world is an incredibly talented place. Unfortunately, so much of the world’s talent goes un- or under-recognized and underappreciated. Beyond the world of established, major-label artists, there’s a world of equally superb, independent musicians, grinding hard in the game. One such talent is Los Angeles vocalist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist EEL SOS. EEL is eclectic – an amalgam of indie, electronic, R&B, and pop. On his first single of 2018, “Say Anything,” he’s jointed by another talented musician, Classy Williams (Christian Gallopo), who serves up some sweet vocals. The results are ‘fire.’
“Say Anything” commences mysteriously – somewhat nebulously. There are electronic hints foreshadowing what’s to come. Following the captivating, yet enigmatic intro, “Say Anything” begins to take shape. Smooth, soulful vocals by enter the picture, providing decadent ear candy. The best part of the vocals is the falsetto, which is ‘on-point.’ Following a strong initial verse, the chorus is where things really take flight, adding an inescapable groove – the cherry on top. Vocal layering, effects, and, ad-libs amplifies the excellence.
“I should’ve given you everything / Girl I’d give everything for just / A minute of your / Time / Ooo, I would do anything / To be at Say Anything / Back when you would give me / One more try.”
Following the electrifying chorus, things come back down on the verse, only to build up once again. All in all, pacing is one of the selling points of “Say Anything.” Highlighting the standout vocals, the ad-libs grow more and more compelling as the song progresses.
Final Thoughts
EEL SOS and Classy Williams ‘bring it’ on “Say Anything.” Solid production work, excellent pacing, and superb vocals make this soulful electro-pop tune a winner.
