EBEN, Lampe © Signature EntertainmentFormer American Idol Contestant, 21-year old Eben Franckewitz (EBEN), drops a compelling, fun single with “Lambo.”

Who is Eben Franckewitz – that is the question! EBEN is an up-and-coming pop artist, first and foremost.  That said, he famously appeared on American Idol season 11, but failed to advance to the top 12.  Franckewitz (what a cool last name) drops his new, infectious single, “Lambo.”

EBEN keeps things ‘short and sweet’ with “Lambo,” which clocks in at under three minutes. The production work is sleek.  Even so, it’s balanced and not overdone.  Anchored by a hard beat, driving synths join the party during the pre-chorus and chorus sections.  Speaking of the pre-chorus, Franckewitz references an old saying that’s central to “Lambo.” “They say money can’t buy you happiness…”

Despite the wisdom of the pre-chorus, EBEN contradicts it on the chorus.

“I’d rather cry in a Lambo / Be depressed at the chateau / Live out my parents’ back road / I’d rather cry, rather cry, rather cry, rather cry in a Lambo.”

Throughout the course of “Lambo,” EBEN delivers great vocals.  On the bridge, he provides vocal contrast, employing more of a pop-rap approach.

“Don’t want to cry in my Honda, cry in the closet / Or in the back of my shitty apartment / Cry in the Target with an empty wallet / Sit here in the dark, wonder why she hadn’t called yet…”

Final Thoughts

On “Lambo,” EBEN has got it going on.  This is a catchy record featuring honest songwriting, solid vocals, and excellent production.  I concur with Franckewitz – “I’d rather cry in a Lambo.”
