E-40 ft. Kamaiyah, "Petty" ยฉ Sick Wid It

4 out of 5 stars

E-40 proves he is still relevant on electrifying new single, โ€œPetty.โ€ He enlists up-and-coming MC Kamaiyah to assist on verse two.

E-40 has been in the game for a long time.  Despite this, the Bay Area MC is nowhere near being โ€œwashed upโ€ or irrelevant.  He showcases his longevity on hot new single, โ€œPetty.โ€  E-40 doesnโ€™t deliver โ€œPettyโ€ without an assist from up-and-coming female MC, Kamaiyah.

โ€œPettyโ€ has a hypnotic ostinato synth.  The production, simply stated, is on-point.  E-40 is on autopilot, delivering his rhymes with agility. As usual, itโ€™s punchline after punchline.  Beyond E-40โ€™s epic verse, repetitive, but infectious hook is bright spot.  Thereโ€™s nothing complex about it, but itโ€™s the simplicity that sells it.

โ€œPetty, petty / most of these b*tches is pettyโ€

Kamaiyah canโ€™t be left out.  While here verse isnโ€™t quite the slaughter fest that 40โ€™s is, itโ€™s still hot, packing a punch.  All said and done, โ€œPettyโ€ is chocked full of attitude and swagger.

Final Thoughts

All in all, โ€œPettyโ€ is well-produced. E-40 is on autopilot โ€“ clearly a star. Besides E-40โ€™s awesome verse, the hook is killer in all its simplicity. Kamaiyah is no slouch either on the second verse. โ€œPettyโ€ isnโ€™t revolutionary, but it is rock solid.
