Dua Lipa & Angèle, "Fever" [📷 : Warner]Grammy-winning singer Dua Lipa and Belgian musician Angèle join forces on the sleek, enjoyable dance-pop record, “Fever.”

“I’ve got a fever, so can you check? / Hand on my forehead, kiss my neck.” The more 🎙 Dua Lipa, the better! Unsurprisingly, a deluxe edition of  💿 Future Nostalgia is on the horizon, with the ‘hot’ song at hand, 🎵 “Fever,” being released as a single. On the brief joint, Dua is joined by Belgian musician 🎙 Angèle.  The results are ultimately positive and quite enjoyable.

Like most pop songs these days – or pretty much any genre for that matter – there’s a whole team of songwriters making “Fever” a go.  In addition to Dua Lipa and Angèle, there’s 🎙 Caroline Ailin, 🎙 Ian Kirkpatrick, 🎙 Jacob Kasher Hindlin, and the ubiquitous 🎙Julia Michaels. Kirkpatrick produces “Fever” giving Dua and Lipa a sleek backdrop to paint over.  The sound is fresh, modern, and fits the vibes established on the standard edition of Future Nostalgia with is danceable vibe.  Of course, it isn’t just the sound that makes “Fever” a fun 2:40 – it’s the singers!

Dua Lipa gets off to a great start, unleashing those matters of the heart.  “Before you came around, I was doing just fine,” she asserts on the first verse, before she begins to ‘come down with that fever,’ highlighted on the chorus.  It’s not a literal fever of course, but rather, a love fever.  Angèle contrasts on the second verse, as well as the bridge, singing in French, which feels fitting on a love-centric joint like this one.  They join forces after the Angèle bridge, which Dua leading the charge.  Also, fittingly, Dua Lipa contributes to the French lyrics on the outro.

Final Thoughts 💭

All in all, Dua Lipa and Angèle deliver a fun, well-rounded pop joint with “Fever.” At this point, Dua has already established herself as a force in pop music, so, the needle isn’t moved necessarily.  Even so, as I asserted at the beginning, anytime there is new music from Dua Lipa, it’s a good day.
