In the 43^rd edition of Bangerz N Bopz (2024), we break down “Alter Ego” performed by Doechii and JT.

“I stood on the corner and shook my shit / Now I’m finna give y’all another hit.” Word, Ayesha Erotica.  And, so begins “Alter Ego,” a collaboration between rappers Doechii and JT.  Given the Ayesha Erotica sample in the intro (“Spread That Puss”), the nearly three-and-a-half-minute song is unapologetic from the beginning.  “Alter Ego” was written by Doechii, JT, Ayesha Erotica, and Zach Witness. Witness and Doechii produced the track incorporating dance, pop, and rap cues.

There are strong, compelling flows by Doechii and JT in their respective verses. “Fuck that hoe, fuck that bitch / It’s fuck that hoe ‘til the condom slip,” Doechii spits, adding, “Who the fuck y’all hoes think run this shit? / Miss she/her/black vagina.” Woo! In the second verse, JT asserts she’s “Unfazed, unbothered / Unfuckwitable bitch, why bother? I’m that bitch, I’m that bitch / I’m that bitch and you bitches ain’t on shit.” Wow! The confidence is through the roof. The pitched chorus following both verses is a surefire vibe. It’s part of the charm of “Alter Ego”

“Nah, nah, nah-nah, nah

These hoes ain’t phasin’ me, phasin’ me

Nah-nah, nah-nah-nah-boo-boo

Bitch, you dead to me, dead to me, rah.”

The bridge, also sung, is one of the surprises of “Alter Ego”.  It easily distinguishes itself from the verses and chorus (“That’s just my alternate, that’s just my alternate / That’s just my ego, that’s just my alternate”). Ultimately, Doechii and JT bring the heat.
