DJ Snake continues to ‘work his magic’ on the star-studded, Latin-tinged dance single “Taki Taki,” featuring Selena Gomez, Ozuna, and Cardi B.
DJ Snake has a knack for assembling star-studded, surefire gems – understatement. Just check the French DJ’s resume and you will find hit after hit after hit. Once more, the good ole DJ delivers the goods with “Taki Taki,” which brings Selena Gomez, Ozuna, and Cardi B together on one track. Naturally, “Taki Taki” packs a punch.
DJ Snake keeps “Taki Taki” a respectable length, just crossing the three-and-a-half-minute mark. As is common these days, there are numerous co-writers making the record possible. Set in a minor key, “Taki Taki” has a dark sound, perfectly suited for the reggaetón-tinged vibe. Naturally the production is utterly superb, with the choice of synths, drum programming, and an infectious groove. The record opens with vocals by Ozuna on the chorus and first verse, performed exclusively in Spanish. Cardi B drops some sick bars on the second verse, performed in English. Of course, she also dips into Spanish on the bridge that follows. Arguably her best lines:
“You hoes got no class, you bitches is broke still
I be talking cash, shit, while I’m popping my gold grill
I’m a whole rich bitch, and I work like I’m broke still
But the love be so fake, but the hate be so real.”
Last but not least, Selena Gomez sings the third verse in sexy fashion:
“DJ Snake
Careful when you come through my way
My body-ody know how to play
Work it, keep it tight everyday…”
Gomez sings the final chorus herself, with a few contributions from Ozuna.
Final Thoughts
All in all, “Taki Taki” is an awesome, Latin-tinged dance track. It’s well-produced, well-performed, and just plain enjoyable. Everyone commits to their part and the end result reflects such.
