DJ Khaled, Grateful © EpicDJ Khaled taps Rihanna and Bryson Tiller for “Wild Thoughts,” the fourth single issued in advance of his new, star-studded album, ‘Grateful.’

DJ Khaled decided to drop one last single ahead of his album, GratefulKhaled unleashed numerous hot singles on the music world throughout the promo campaign for Grateful.  That hotness includes “Shining,” no. 1 hit “I’m the One,” and “To the Max.”  Now, “Wild Thoughts” is added to the ferocity that foreshadows Grateful. Star- studded like the singles preceding it, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller serve as the featured guests.

The first thing that stands out about “Wild Thoughts” are the Latin vibes.  A certain, late-90s classic is sampled – “Maria, Maria,” courtesy of Santana.  Instantly it gives “Wild Thoughts” a major lift before Rihanna or Bryson Tiller sings one note.  Naturally, DJ Khaled offers up his signature shout out: “Another one / We the Best music / DJ Khaled.” He’s got a point – “Wild Thoughts” earns Khaled’s implications of “another hot one.”

Rihanna gets things started right – she’s on autopilot from the jump.  She’s sexed up, enticing her man with her naughtiness:

“Spinning and it’s wet just like it came from Maytag / White girl wasted on that brown liquor.”

Wow! She confirms her “wild thoughts” on the repetitive, but irresistibly, delicious chorus.  She continues throwing mad innuendo on the second verse, particular at the top:

“I hope you know I’m for the takin’ / You know this cookie is for the baking / Kitty, kitty, baby give that thing some rest / ‘Cause you done beat it like the ’68 Jets.”

Dirty, dirty, dirty.  Naturally, Bryson Tiller, who sings the third verse, kicks the explicitness up a notch.  No more suggestiveness, just being brutally honest.  He sings:

“I heard that p*ssy for the taking / I heard it got these other n*ggas goin’ crazy / Yeah I treat you like a lady, lady / F*ck you ‘til you’re burned out, cremation.”

Yep, that’s “Wild Thoughts” for you.

Final Thoughts

Once again, DJ Khaled has constructed a surefire hit.  The recipe is a good one: awesome production, superstar cast, and of course, sex.  What more can anyone ask for out of a pop hit? We’re grateful DJ Khaled!
