Dixon Dallas, Better Without You | Track Review 🎵

Gay country singer/songwriter Dixon Dallas (aka Jake Hill) shines once more on his break-up single, “Better Without You.”   

“No more dancin’ around it and I hate to say it (say it) / But you damn sure ain’t the one that got away.” Brutal, 🎙 Dixon Dallas, brutal! But, as The Good Book says, the truth will set you free. Dixon Dallas has proven himself to be, the SugarHoneyIcedTea – no cap.  A gay country singer – the alter ego of 🎙 Jake Hill – Dallas is boldly true to self where sexuality is concerned.  The song at hand, 🎵 “Better Without You” arrives as the second single released from the two-song single, 2 More, following 🎵 “F150”.. Sex plays a bigger role on “F150” – one of the most titillating truck-related country songs you’ll ever hear – while Dallas is subtler on “Better Without You.”

“Better Without You” retains the country vibes that Dixon Dallas has embraced throughout his 2023 releases but does add a dash of hip-hop (the drum programming). As always, he delivers a fine vocal tone; gotta love the masculine sound of his pipes 😍. Another pro regarding the vocals is the vocal production which is excellent. “Better Without You” earns more high marks as well.  The melodies are tuneful on the verses and the chorus.  The songwriting is catchy and well-rounded, with the chorus earning the highest marks:

“I hope you miss me when you think about me

And everything we could have been (We could have been)

And now you’re nothin’ but another memory

You know it hurt but in the end…”

Sigh.  To reiterate, if you enjoy how overtly gay Dixon Dallas is (I certainly do 🌈) 🎵 “Better Without You” plays it more straight.  If you’re seeking riding and bussy, you won’t find it on this particular record.  Still, this is another winner, period!
