Diplo, Worry No More © Mad DecentFresh off of soulful single “Look Back,” Diplo returns with “Worry No More,” enlisting Lil Yachty and Santigold for the assist.

Diplo delivered a gem earlier in 2018 when he dropped “Look Back” featuring DRAM.  He’s back again, this time enlisting the talents of Lil Yachty and Santigold. Does “Worry No More” match the soulful, high-flying “Look Back?” Eh, not quite.

Following an intro by Lil Yachty (“I don’t worry no more”), Santigold sings the first and second verses.  Vocally, she definitely sounds distinct.  On the first verse, she’s feisty, singing, “Stop messing with my money now… / Being rich is hip as f*ck.” Get it girl.  Lil Yachty contrasts with his sung vocals on the chorus, as well as the bridge.   This is an extended chorus, so it doesn’t lend itself to being particularly catchy.

“I don’t want to worry no more / I just want to ball like the big league / I just want a nice house on the shore / I just want a big house like Gatsby / So catch me if you can / I’m chasing after my dreams / I want to be the man / I want to be the star on the scene.”

The bridge, following the second verse by Santigold, jacks the final part of the chorus.  Can you say copy and paste?

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Worry No More” is an enjoyable, respectable record, but nothing earth-shattering. All three musicians are successful in their roles, which is a pro.  The song itself – the songwriting – is merely okay and nothing particularly special.
