Denny White, Torn Up © Kid CoconutRising singer, songwriter, and producer Denny White shows incredible musicianship and ample potential on soulful, electro-pop single, “Torn Up.”

Ladies and gents – there’s a ‘hot’ artist to watch! That ‘hot’ artist is Hemet, California-bred Denny White, a rising singer, songwriter, and producer.  The talented musician, now based in Los Angeles, already has some stellar accomplishments on his resume.  Such accomplishments including touring with alternative band Young the Giant – #Rock On! Furthermore, he’s collaborated with OneRepublic member, Brent Kutzle.  #Score.  Most impressive is what he brings to the table himself, showcased magnificently on single, “Torn Up.”

“Torn Up” commences abruptly with Denny White’s pipes.  By abruptly, it means that there’s no instrumental introduction to acclimate the listener in.  Not a problem in the least! White does a superb job piquing the listener’s ears with his voice. He has a playful vocal approach on the verses.  During these sections, he sings in more of an undertone, holding back, yet keeping the listener “on their heels” for the arrival point. That arrival point occurs on the chorus, where he opens up more, showing off even greater vocal abilities, led by falsetto.

Describing White as soulful is cliché, but definitely accurate. Further amplifying his skill is the vocal production, which encompasses layered vocals, including some hip pitch-shifted vocals. Vocal production is killer, but the overall production – the whole shebang – is the ‘cat’s meow.’ “Torn Up” features a sleek, pop /electro-pop sound, comprised of hard drums and sampled beats, synth bass, and biting, melodic synths.  Clearly, vibe is key to White’s M.O.

Final Thoughts

Denny White proves “he’s the man” on “Torn Up.” This inventive musician is well-rounded in all facets, delivering strong vocals, writing, and most of all, awesome production.  In an age where innovation or in the least, innovative spirit is hard to come by, White proves he’s unafraid to push the envelope and come up with refreshing music.
