Rapper/singer DeJ Loaf drops a gem on soulful single, “Changes.”
At this point, it seems as if rapper/singer DeJ Loaf has been around for a minute. In some respect she has, arriving on the scene officially in 2012 (Just Do It mixtape). However, she’s yet to release a full-length album. Perhaps that’s on the horizon – time will tell. Until then, she’s dropped a hot single, “Changes,” on September 22.
“Changes” gets started with a serious bang, thanks to an energetic soul sample. Before DeJ Loaf even gets the party started, the punch – the oomph – is established. Expectedly, she brings the heat. She has an excellent flow, not to mention an ideal tone of voice that’s perfectly suited to spitting bars. In addition to those bars, she is also beastly when it comes to singing. She masterfully incorporates sung-vocals during the first verse. Her main attraction vocally, comes on the chorus. Simply put, the chorus is ‘da bomb.’ She blesses the chorus with her vocals, and it’s beautiful to the nth degree.
“Old friends that turned into strangers Ex-lovers mad that I’m famous They see the picture I painted I been going through changes I prayed to God and I made it Nobody did me no favor I’m sorry if you can’t take it I been going through changes.”
Final Thoughts
All in all, DeJ Loaf “shines bright like a diamond” on “Changes.” The production is superb, and the vocals – rapped and sung – are awesome. There are no glaring cons to be found here – she is “doin’ the damn thing.”
