“The devil is a liar / Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!” Lisa Page Brooks created the ultimate, wholesome, viral moment in 2024.  The gospel singer entertained and ministered to us with “The Devil Is a Liar”, recorded in the studio as “The Grateful Chant”.  Given the virality, many content creators and musicians jumped onto the devil is a liar train. Hallelujah! One such artist is Dante’ Pride who raps over a sample of Brooks’ “The Grateful Chant.” “Standin’ on business / Can I get a witness? / Anybody know that (The devil is a liar / Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah).” Ooh-wee! The way that “The Grateful Chant” is interpolated on “YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH” is brilliant.  Of course, given the prominence of Brooks, she is credited as a featured artist… YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!

balancing a barbell on finger“YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH” is a Christian rap record.  The production matches that of secular rap.  It’s sleek and well-rounded. Dante’ Pride raps about his come-up… in Jesus, of course 🙏 🙌! His cadence and flow are on point.  His rhymes are sharp, ushering in inspirational music to a younger generation.  “Devil had me believin’ lies,” he spits, continuing, “Found the truth, now I’m on fire / God said go, and I said (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah).” Woo! Later, Dante’ asserts, “Breakin’ generation curses / Putting ‘em in hearses / Was a ‘Darkchild’ like Rodney Jerkins / God spoke to my heart, Donnie McClurkin.”  A couple of times, Dante’ further confirms his salvation: “They like, ‘Do you love Jesus,’ I’m like / (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)” and “They like, ‘Have you been redeemed’, and I’m like / (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah).” “The Grateful Chant” by Lisa Page Brooks is the gift that keeps on giving. “YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH” by Dante’ Pride featuring Brooks is an awesome, spirited, and spiritual extension.
