Well, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isnβt extensive, but rather short and sweet. This week, I picked out 10 notable observations from the Billboard 200 π, and four observations from the Billboard Hot 100 π, with π Billie Eilish retaining the number one spot on the Billboard 200, π Dan + Shay bowing at no. 6, and π The Kid LAROI and π Justin Bieber retaining the top spot on the Hot 100.
Billboard 200 π
π π Grammy-winning country music duo π Dan + Shay debut at no. 6 with their fourth studio album, πΏ Good Things.
π Rap duo π $uicideBoy$ debut at no. 7 with πΏ Long Term Effects of Suffering.
π π The Killers debut at no. 9 on the Billboard 200 with πΏ Pressure Machine.
π Just outside the top 10, π YNM Melly debuts at no. 11 with πΏ Just a Matter of Slime.
π π Ben Platt debuts at no. 84 with his sophomore album, πΏ Reverie. Reverie deserved better!
π Pop singer/songwriter and producer π blackbear debuts at no. 102 with πΏ Misery Lake (EP).
π Going solo isnβt always what it cracked up to be, apparent. π Luke Hemmings (of π 5 Seconds of Summer) sees his debut solo album, πΏ When Facing the Things We Turn Away From bow tepidly at no. 124.
π π Still Woozy (Sven Gamsky), sees his debut album, πΏ If This Isnβt Nice, I Donβt Know What Is, debut modestly at no. 150.
π Disappointingly, π Academy award and Grammy-winning singer/actress π Jennifer Hudson sees πΏ Respect (Soundtrack) barely dent the chart at no. 151. Ouch!
