On the 10th edition of Sunday Refresh, we’re uplifted by Dallas Holm performing his Contemporary Christian Music classic, “Rise Again.”
Welcome to Sunday Refresh 🙏, a column that seeks to highlight inspirational songs to uplift the spirit. These tracks that appear on Sunday Refresh may or may not be faith-based or religious; the goal is for them to make you feel better – refreshed. So, for the X edition of Sunday Refresh, we highlight 🎵 “Rise Again” as performed by 🎙 Dallas Holm.
Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) is popular among its base, period. That said, how many CCM songs transcend the base, or at a minimum, become surefire torchbearers for Christian/religious music? I’d argue very few. That said, CCM artist 🎙 Dallas Holm only needed one song to solidify his legacy, and that song is 🎵 “Rise Again.” “Rise Again” is one of few CCM songs that is also beloved by the gospel community. It is truly THAT transcendent, universal religious classic.
“Go ahead, drive the nails in my hands; Laugh at me, where you stand / Go ahead, and say it isn’t Me; The day will come, when you will see.” “Rise Again” shines because it’s moving, rousing, and thoughtfully penned. Like much of CCM, it maintains simple lyrics and straightforward form. Simple it may be, it’s potent, authentic, and again, transcendent to the nth degree. The theme is the Resurrection of Christ, making it the perfect Easter song. Of course, “Rise Again” is perfect for any Sunday service, or any day you need inspiration and a reminder of the awesomeness of J-E-S-U-S. Holm sounds marvelous, particularly on the powerful chorus:
“‘Cause I’ll rise, again; Ain’t no power on earth can keep Me down! Yes, I’ll rise, again; Death can’t keep Me in the ground.”
