Daisy Maude, Don't Blame Me [Photo Credit: Daisy Maude]Remember the name Daisy Maude.  This up-and-coming singer/songwriter from Arizona drops a brilliant debut single with “Don’t Blame Me.”

Pop artist Daisy Maude shows she’s ‘one to watch’ on her debut single “Don’t Blame Me.” The singer/songwriter was born and raised in Arizona, specifically, “at the foot of the highest mountains” in Flagstaff.  In addition to her musical prowess, which includes studying at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, she’s an avid Mountain Biker.  Can sing, plays instruments (bass, guitar), loves the outdoors, and is athletic? That has to check off some boxes!  Describing “Don’t Blame Me,” Maude characterizes the single as “an energetic new pop song with a bit of angst and a lot of attitude.” After having the honor and pleasure of listening, I totally concur.

Daisy MaudePerhaps the biggest takeaway on “Don’t Blame Me” is the sheer beauty and expressiveness that Daisy Maude showcases vocally. At the beginning of the record, she begins singing with a breathier tone.  Progressively, her singing evolves to a more biting, grittier sound, evidenced on the chorus.  Beyond blessing the world with top-notch pipes, Maude has magnificent production work on her side.

Daisy MaudeThe production is balanced, keeping things relatively spare on the verses, and never inhibiting her in the least. This backdrop is composed of hard-hitting drum programming, keyboards, synths, and stellar, harmonized backing vocals.  While the more minimal sound of the verses is a selling point in itself, the production is most glorious when it expands on the gargantuan chorus.  Another reason to love “Don’t Blame Me?” It’s well-written and incredibly catchy; it sticks with you the first time you hear it.

Final Thoughts

Daisy MaudeJust to reiterate, Daisy Maude shows she’s ‘one to watch’ on her debut single “Don’t Blame Me.”  She’s got the pipes, sick production work, and knows how to pen a song with a catchy, infectious chorus.  Are there any glaring cons? No – this is an awesome start for Maude without question. Music is indeed her calling, and her forthcoming debut EP (anticipated January 2019) should be a treat.
