Once you’ve tarnished your reputation, it’s incredibly hard to build it back up.  For 🏆 Grammy-nominated rapper 🎙 DaBaby, he ‘messed up a good thing’ – his flourishing career – by going homophobic. Ugh, you hate to see it.  Expectedly, he was ‘cancelled’ to some extent.  Basically, DaBaby is in rebuild mode and already, he’s stirred controversy with recent single, 🎵 “Tough Skin”, which involves his crucifixion… His more recent single from his forthcoming album, 💿 Baby on Baby 2, 🎵 “Waitress” appears to eschew controversy, finding the rapper just dropping a confident banger.

“Waitress” lacks substance, but it doesn’t lack attitude and fire.  After stating, “I’ma let the beat build on this one” on the intro, DaBaby drops the chorus, in typical agile, unapologetic fashion.  He’s profane, to say the least: “Yeah, man, fuck all these niggas hatin’ on me / Yesterday, I fucked the waitress / I came outside with my plate, she was waitin’ on me.” Woo! Of course, he goes on to add, “She be tellin’ me to smile when she ride my dick.” Of course, she does.  Beyond the sexed-up chorus, during the verses, DaBaby flexes hard, touting baller status (citing 🏀 Devin Booker), drip (“I tried to back up the Maybach / But it was too close to the Lambo’…”), and of course, more sex (“Yeah, we gon’ fuck on the floor, she gon’ throw back / Yeah, ‘bout to pull out a wig, need some more tracks”).

Final Thoughts 💭

fire sunglassesSo, will 🎵 “Waitress” change your life? Probably not but give DaBaby credit for bringing energy and delivering a respectable banger.  To reiterate, there’s little substance – no bigger purpose –  but it showcases part of the reason folks liked DaBaby before his faux pas.
