CupcakKe, Cartoons © CupcakKeBold, unapologetic female rapper cupcakKe returns with a new single “Cartoons.” Save for select moments and the ‘cartoonish’ hook, she isn’t playing around.

Shew, cupcakKe is quite the character! Safe to say, she’s unapologetic to the core.  Her music is chocked-full of sex, profanity, and everything seemingly bad for you.  On The Musical Hype, we’ve featured cupcakKe several times throughout 2017.  She earned a spot on our initial worst songs of 2017 list (for “Cumshot”), she appeared with Greer on single, “School Night,” and she fittingly earned a spot on the 10 Filthy Songs By Female Rappers.  Now we return the spotlight on the bold rapper on her short new single, “Cartoons.”

“Cartoons” opens mysteriously, with quirky, ‘seedy-sounding’ production that foreshadows the heat that’s about to drop. Expectedly, cupcakKe enters turned up to the nth degree.  The rhymes are quick, hard AF, and not nearly as childish or playful as the title might suggest.  Even so, cupcakKe does deliver a cartoonish, catchy hook:

“If I see carats-carrots like Bugs Bunny / I’m Batman, robbin’-Robin for the money / Strip her, bare feet like the Flintstones / Make a Tom and Jerry whole way home / I’m a snack so I attract Scooby Doo’s / Give ‘em Smurf dick, that’s balls blue / I don’t look for n*ggas so f*ck Waldo / B*tch, I’m cocky like Johnny Bravo.”

Give her credit – that’s one helluva hook. The verses, as aforementioned pack plenty of punch, against a hard beat. During the course of both, cupcaKke drops mad punchlines while flexing like a boss.  On the first verse, she proclaims, “A lot of mo’f*ckas full of shit so you know they walk around / poopin.’” What more can you say to that? On the second verse, she absurdly asserts, “Fake hoes, we can’t buy / Put the Glock in you like a tampon.”

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the best way to take cupcakKe is with a grain of salt.  Actually, perhaps the whole salt shaker.  “Cartoons” ends up being quirky, yet entertaining.  She is what she is, whatever that may be…
