Coco Jones, Taste (Ft. Doechii) [📷: High Standardz / Def Jam Recordings]The ‘taste’ that Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter Coco Jones ‘cooks up’ in her single,  “Taste” is incredibly delicious.

“A taste gets me in places / I’m chasin’ I can’t erase it,” Coco Jones sings in the pre-chorus of “Taste”. She continues, tastefully, “Taste me, boy, and I’ll taste you / That’s the way I feel when I’m slippin’ under.” Oh, snap! Even though she is tasteful, the Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter gives us sexy eyes from the beginning of “Taste”.  Notably, she is taken with this man.  Is her obsession toxic? Perhaps. It is toxic to some degree as “Taste” samples the Britney Spears classic, “Toxic”.  See the chorus for the full breadth of the genius toxicity!

“(With a taste of your lips I’m on a ride) Oh-ooh

(You’re toxic I’m slippin’ under) Oh, oh, oh

(Taste of poison paradise) Oh, ooh, yeah

(I’m addicted to you, don’t you know that you’re toxic?) Yeah.”

Ooh-wee! Beyond the marvelous choice of sampling, the production (Stargate, Jasper Harris, and Aaron Shadrow) is sleek.  Coco Jones ‘eats.’ Her vocals are husky, rich, and buttery smooth. Additionally, she throws a mean falsetto. “All up in my conscious / I don’t want another touch without you there,” Jones sings in the first verse, adding, “If I’m being honest, I’m falling in love.” Word. Beyond her first-class, top-notch lead vocals, Jones gets excellent support from the background vocals.  Even if “It’s too good, I’m too attached,” the “Taste” Coco gives listeners is delicious! Decadent, decadent, decadent!
