Grammy-winning British trio Clean Bandit returns with a brand-new single, “Solo.” “Solo” marks their first new single since 2017 – itfollows the platinum-certified “I Miss You.” Of course, Clean Bandit doesn’t go soloon their new single (they couldn’t anyways as a trio) – Grammy-nominated pop powerhouse Demi Lovato handles the vocals.

“Solo” encompasses “self-love and appreciation.” If that sounds like heavy subject matter, no worries – Clean Bandit keeps things fun and intriguing as well. “Solo” is attention-getting from the start, thanks to the gimmickry, and the Latin-infused production. The record features an infectious beat and overall sound production with acoustic guitars, drum programming, synths, and vocal effects.

Expectedly, Demi Lovato delivers strong vocals. Sure, there are gimmicks associated with the dance/electro style. That said, you can still hear the impressiveness of her voice through the sheen or rather the ‘play’ of the trio.  CB has a ball chopping, pitch-shifting, and experimenting with the vocals.  The ideas that they come up with and present to the listener are certainly cool.

Ultimately, Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato make a formidable team on “Solo.” No, it’s not ‘the second coming,’ but “Solo” is a fun, well-rounded dance record through and through. Solid production and vocals make this a captivating listen.
