Chris Brown remains raunchy AF on “Wobble Up,” the third advance single from his ninth solo album, ‘Indigo.’ Nicki Minaj and G-Eazy assist.
If you hadn’t heard, Chris Brown is releasing his ninth solo album, Indigo on June 28, 2019. Indigo arrives less than two years after Brown released the ridiculously long Heartbreak on a Full Moon, which in its deluxe edition (‘Cuffing Season – 12 Days of Christmas) ran over three hours in duration! Thankfully, Indigo doesn’t feature 57 tracks, but the fact that there are still 32 is definitely a red flag. “Wobble Up” arrived as the third advance single from Indigo, enlisting two superstars for the assist in Nicki Minaj and G-Eazy. Expectedly, “Wobble Up” lacks the least bit of substance.
“Wobble Up” is a banger through in through. That’s both a positive and negative. Is this a catchy joint? Yes. Is this really anything different from what Chris Brown has done since transforming into the bad boy of R&B/hip-hop? Nope. “Wobble Up” finds Brown continuing to be sexed-up to the nth degree. The key line of the risqué chorus performed by Brown is “Wobble on that dick, wobble up, wobble-wobble up.” He’s incredibly hedonistic on the following verse, closing out with the following lyrics:
“Huh, your ex-nigga, he was dumb as fuck
Soon as I gave her the dick, she fallin’ in love.”
PLAYED TF Out. Unsurprisingly, Nicki Minaj responds to Brown’s sexual vibes with her own filth, including the unfortunate lyric, “When I bust a nut, I don’t ever wanna cuddle up.” Of course G-Eazy continues his fuckboy ways, asserting, “So, I pulled up while her man’s at work / Yeah, she had the night shift, I made her cancel work / Then I asked her twerk on the D, I pulled out, splashed her shirt.” Oh my… Adding to the filth is the Magnolia Shorty sample, “Monkey on the D$CK”.
Final Thoughts
In regard to being an enjoyable banger, “Wobble Up” checks off the boxes its expected to. This is quite a catchy song anyway you look at it. That said, Chris Brown has spent a long time adhering to the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ motto, and perhaps it would be nice to see him progress beyond raunchy records that lack any nutritional value. I like it, but its more temporary stimulation as opposed to long-term.
