Chris Brown, Undecided | Track Review 🎵

Chris Brown is ‘indecisive’ regarding a committed relationship or hooking up and continuing to ‘play the field’ on single, “Undecided.”

If 2017 didn’t provide listeners with a enough of a heaping dose of Chris Brown (Heartbreak on a Full Moon), he’s returned “Undecided” in 2019. No, his brand-new single “Undecided” has nothing to do with Brown deciding to throw his support to the right or the left.  No, it has to do with deciding to be in committed, serious relationship, or keep things sexual.  Of course, sex and Chris Brown’s music go hand-in-hand.  Case in point: “Girl, you know what pussy is my weakness.” Ugh.

Getting pumped up for new music from Chris Brown is hard, mainly because he’s such a saturated urban contemporary artist, particularly given his subject matter.  As aforementioned, Brown is taken with a girl who wants to take the relationship to the next level.  Chris is considering it, but admits on the first verse, “No, I’m not ready for, you want me all alone.”  Obviously, on this bright, major-key urban contemporary record (fueled by a Shanice sample), the sex is where Brown is fully decided, evidenced on the pre-chorus.

“I’m taking off your clothes
We getting sexual
Hit it so good, think I’ll propose
I don’t know but.”

Of course, it is the chorus were he struggles with being potentially monogamous, or continue hooking up and playing the field.

“I’m undecided, excited, ignited
And I don’t wanna feel the way I do, but I like it
Look at all these sparks flying
But I’m still indecisive
And she want me to wife it
But I’m undecided.”

Final Thoughts 

Chris Brown doesn’t change the world with the release of “Undecided” – understatement.  Brown contemplating love and sex on the track – its only happened like a million times! That said, it’s an enjoyable single, particularly considering it’s an isolated release independent of the juggernaut that was Heartbreak on a Full Moon. He seems to be on to something with this one, even if he still doesn’t manage to evolve musically.
