Charlie Wilson, All of My Love | Track Review

Charlie Wilson, assisted by the legendary Smokey Robinson, shines on the old-school, love centric single, “All of My Love.”

CCharlie Wilson and Smokey Robinson on the same track? Count me in! ‘Uncle Charlie’ returns with a new, independently released R&B single entitled, “All of My Love.” Wilson is the ripe young age of 67 but you couldn’t tell it given how awesome his voice continues to sound. Likewise, his featured guest, Robinson, is the ripe young age of 80, and still has his smooth, tenor pipes working for him. Naturally, both musicians ‘bring the heat’ on “All of My Love.”

“All of My Love” isn’t intended for the young crowd – this is grown-n-sexy, adult contemporary R&B at its finest. While “All of My Love” isn’t a traditional soul joint per se, it’s still chocked-full of soul and has that classic vibe that’s so rare in 2020.  Thematically, love has been sung about a million times, yet, like so many love-oriented joints, it never gets old. Sure, Charlie and Smokey bring nothing revolutionary to the table but, it’s refreshing to hear that old-school magic.

Final Thoughts

Honestly, “All of My Love,” and the respective performances by Charlie Wilson and Smokey Robinson speak for themselves. This is a solid throwback R&B joint geared towards the demographic who misses R&B that sounds vintage.  It’s not modern, aimed at a younger crossover audience but it doesn’t need to be.  “All of My Love” is meant to appeal to a specific base – an older, more traditional demographic.  There’s nothing wrong with that because Charlie is definitely in his wheelhouse here.
