“You took away a year / Of my fuckin’ life / And I can’t get it back no more.” Well, it’s clear that 🎙 Charlie Puth has ‘grown up’ musically! When those f-bombs drop folks, you are no longer ‘adorkable.’ Well, maybe he still is, or we could simply say he’s handsome… The point is, with 🎵 “That’s Hilarious”, Charles in Charge is M-A-D! Who can his anger be blamed upon? Yep, you guessed it, a G-I-R-L! They’ll do it every time (M-E-N too)!

Charlie Puth, Charlie [📷: Atlantic]Yes, I jest, but in all seriousness, Charlie Puth has nothing to lose at this point.  He is not a boy anymore – he’s pushing 31.  Where before, his audience might not be ready for him to drop that bomb, at this point, he’s a grown-ass man.  Word.  If you go into this slickly produced single expecting Puth to crack jokes, well, you’ll be sorely disappointed.  He’s mad, I tell you! “You didn’t love when you had me / But now you need me so badly / You can’t be serious (Ha-ha-ha) / That’s hilarious (Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha).” See, not funny!!!  He’s not lying when he says, “Thinkin’ I would still want you / After the things you put me through / Yeah, you’re delirious.”

Final Thoughts 💭

hilariousSo, does Charlie Puth have a bop or a flop on his hands? All in all, 🎵 “That’s Hilarious” is successful. Is it the second coming? No, but it’s enjoyable and at a minimum, respectable.  Furthermore, I love hearing Charlie more emotional. Hopefully, studio album number three is a big step for Charles.
