Chandra And Saskia Team Up For New Album
Contributed by George James
T
he new initiative by two pioneering leaders, Chandra Chakraborty and Saskia Griffiths-Moore, is ‘Together In Love And Separation’. This mouth-watering adventure stimulates by its interwoven cultural quality. Both the western world and India have left their imprints on this work, and those influences have been combined with the original textures of each culture to produce a coherent whole that exemplifies a novel style and a unique hybrid genre. From the opening track, ‘She Moved Through the Fair‘, to the album’s closing track, ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’, the album exudes an air of endearing charisma, and its appeal is readily apparent throughout its entirety.
Eight tracks are available, each floating through the atmosphere with an aesthetic that gives one shivers down the spine. The way in which Chandra and Saskia deliver their vocals is energizingly striking while at the same time remaining stylistically relevant to the music that they are covering. In addition, the majority of the songs maintain their authentic appearance while venturing even further into uncharted territory with a newly discovered sound.
As the record progresses, a wide variety of sounds begin to emerge, and these sounds, in turn, demonstrate the cultural aspects of both of these traditions. The beauty continues to surround the ears throughout the performance, with Saskia and Chandra demonstrating why so many people consider them the best in the business.
